Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the importance of the Sabarimala Greenfield International Airport project in Erumeli, emphasizing its role in boosting spiritual tourism. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has granted site clearance for the project, estimated to cost ₹4,000 crore. This airport, which aims to improve regional connectivity, is proposed to be developed on approximately 2,570 acres of land through a public-private partnership model.
